Life with the WildCRU
Based at the Recanati-Kaplan Centre, Tubney House, just outside Oxford, you will be immersed in our interdisciplinary team, and have the opportunity to learn from a diverse range of ongoing international conservation projects, including a large number of field projects on wild felids and other threatened carnivores worldwide. The University of Oxford is a world-leader in terms of academic excellence, and our position within the Department of Zoology will allow you access to cutting-edge research in a range of conservation-related fields, as well as a comprehensive library and access to a huge range of online journals.
We will accept 8-10 students per year – class sizes are kept small to promote learning, facilitate interaction and enhance integration into the WildCRU. The taught modules will be provided by WildCRU experts, supported by external guest lecturers. You will learn through a variety of scenarios, including small group work, individual projects, field sessions, tailor-made tutorials, class lectures, discussion groups, self-study and peer-learning.
You will also be granted associate membership of Lady Margaret Hall MCR, allowing you to experience all facets of student life at the University of Oxford.
WildCRU’s Diploma Student Accommodation
A generous donation from the Recanati-Kaplan Foundation has enabled the conversion of existing historic buildings in the grounds of Tubney House into a modern teaching facility, the Panthera Buildings, including a large teaching space and a social area. Accommodation in the Panthera Buildings consists of 10 individual student bedrooms, with 2 shared shower rooms and toilets, 2 additional shared toilets and a communal kitchen. Bedding, towels and kitchen equipment are provided.
Please note that students who undertake the Diploma should be prepared for campus-style communal living, and while we request that all students respect others peace and quiet, there will be background noise concomitant with living in shared accommodation.
