THE NEW WILDCRU APPEAL

A new phase has begun for WildCRU

On the 5th October 2004 we moved into Tubney House. It offers exciting opportunities for benefactors.

WildCRU's greatest resource is our people and their energising blend of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. Although providing unequalled intellectual resources and strong support, Oxford University itself cannot fund our appeal - for that we seek benefactors.

With a target of £7million, the new WildCRU Appeal aims to deliver three pillars to support our new programme: a base, core staff and field projects.

The first component has already been achieved – the Tubney Trust has generously given us Tubney House and 35 acres of woodland and fields on the outskirts of Oxford to create a new international conservation centre.

With our experienced team and our new base at Tubney House, but remaining a part of Oxford University's Zoology Department, now is the perfect time to bring the appeal to fruition.

The Director's Fellowship, and those of other core team members, are based at Lady Margaret Hall (LMH). The essential work of these core staff underpins all WildCRU activities, and funding these posts provides important naming opportunities for benefactors.

Ultimately, we judge ourselves on the quality our work. Being interesting is not enough - we must be useful too. The third pillar of the WildCRU appeal is support of our field programmes and donors have the opportunity to earmark issues, species or regions to which they wish to direct their support (see Research). However, the most valuable gifts are uncommitted funds that we can direct to unforeseeable conservation opportunities as they emerge.
