Other
Species
|
Over the course of 2000 a variety of other species were also observed and monitored with volunteer groups.
| One team assisted with
a bat census, collecting bats from their winter hibernation sites, under
the supervision of WidCru’s Rob Strachan. We also did some nocturnal ulta-sound
surveys.
Other groups had very successful evenings watching foxes, where badgers had been anticipated. Hares too were observed while lamping for rabbits on the open fields while working on the badger gates. In 2001 we want to build these “other species” observations into more robust initiatives and expand the range of mammals we’re monitoring at Wytham. |
