WildCRU students in the London/Varsity Marathon

April 29, 2015

Two DPhil students at WildCRU, Ewan Macdonald and Carly Easby, participated in the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2015, running for the Oxford University Cross Country Club (OUCCC). In addition to the main race, the London Marathon also hosts the annual Oxford Vs Cambridge varsity match. Ewan, who works on clouded leopards in Borneo, finished with a personal best of 03:11:01, five minutes faster than Cambridge’s third placed runner. Carly, who works on hedgehogs in the UK and was also the Captain of the OUCCC marathon team, completed the 26.2 mile course in 03:42:27, finishing ahead of three of the top four Cambridge women. Both the women’s and men’s OUCCC teams were victorious over Cambridge, and the runners headed back to Oxford (very slowly and painfully) delighted with the result.
