First comprehensive report on the wildlife economy in Africa

April 29, 2021

Delighted to see the major new report on The State of Wildlife Economy in Africa from the ALU School of Wildlife Conservation.

WildCRU Research Visitor, Dr Frank Vorhies, is Academic Director of ALU’s School of Wildlife Conservation and a main contributing author to the report. It is the first comprehensive look at the current status of the wildlife economy across the continent including in-depth case studies on several countries. It is hoped that the report will encourage more public and private investments in natural landscapes to improve conservation outcomes and support economic development.

Dr Vorhies says ‘Though the report is over 400 pages, in many ways, it is just the start of a much needed conversation on how unlocking the wildlife economy can contribute to both wildlife conservation and economic development across Africa.’
