I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at Simon Bolivar University. While in my Bachelors I participated in an exchange program with Lund University (Sweden) which let me conduct my undergraduate degree project in Namibia with the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) Research and Education Centre. There I carried out an investigation of the effect of clearing encroacher bushes from the North-Namibian farmlands on wildlife (mammals and birds), with the hope that the results of this pilot project would benefit cheetahs through vastly scaled-up habitat restoration efforts. While working with CCF I developed a great interest for carnivore conservation, particularly wild felids. After that I participated in projects related to biodiversity conservation with emphasis on anthropic pressure and most recently I worked as a Field-Laboratory Researcher and Professional in training for the Felid Projects in the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC), where I was involved with different projects on felids, jaguars being my main focus.
