Training at WildCRU: Gems from the cutting room floor

September 12, 2018

In September, David Macdonald was nominated for the Award for Conservation Excellence (ACE) and the organisers commissioned a 4-minute film to promote his nomination (you can see that film on David’s web page here: https://www.wildcru.org/members/professor-david-macdonald-cbe-dsc-frse/). The cameraman, Cody Altizer, felt there was masses of interest in the unused material and, being excited by the WildCRU’s vision, he very generously offered to use these off-cuts to produce another film about training at the WildCRU.  You can see Cody’s new film, produced with kind permission of the Banovich Foundation, on our WildCRU Youtube channel, or on the About WildCRU page, https://www.wildcru.org/about-wildcru/. In the film, David introduces the WildCRU Panthers (more formally known as the Recanati-Kaplan Centre Postgraduate Diploma in International Wildlife Conservation Practice, a course for early-career conservation scientists to build on their skill base), explains about the training of our doctoral students, and reflects on some of our work on conservation on farmland.
