I read for a B.Sc. Degree majoring in Zoology and Ichthyology at Rhodes University, South Africa, followed by an Honours Degree in African Vertebrate Biodiversity. I went on to catch crocodiles in Mozambique for a year and a half before being offered the opportunity to volunteer on WildCRU’s Hwange Big Cat Project in Zimbabwe under the leadership of Dr Andrew Loveridge. I am now registered as a DPhil student at Jesus College with a Beit Trust Scholarship to study leopard (Panthera pardus) behavioural ecology (funded by the Darwin Initiative for Biodiversity), and how this is affected by anthropogenic mortality and intra-guild competition.
