I was born in Myanmar and completed B.Sc in forestry studies. After graduation, I joined the Wildlife Conservation Society Myanmar Program and I have been working as a research officer of the biological monitoring team at my field site. My hobby is traveling and exploring the pristine nature of forests, which encouraged me to become a member of the Myanmar Hiking and Mountaineering Federation, and then finally a field-based researcher. With my biological monitoring team, I have taken part in clouded leopard and tiger surveys using camera traps, and Eastern Hoolock gibbon surveys in Htamanthi Wildlife Sanctuary , Northern Forest Complex, and my team and I compiled some survey manuals for future survey purposes. In my work I have taken part in management plan development processes, led some training in biological monitoring surveys, and I have taken part, as a trainer and facilitator, in community engagement activities.

Based on my current experiences, I would like to continue my research on behavioural changes of large carnivores, and their responses to different threats. I am also interested in protected area management and ecotourism studies. I hope the course will give me the necessary skills to enter the wider field of ecologists, and the scientific community. Learning the fundamental skills such as statistics and research methods, as well as GIS, are my expectations of this course. Then I would like to do further research degrees to become a person who will contribute my knowledge to, and help fulfil my country’s resource needs in, wildlife conservation fields.
