Professor Amy Dickman at the 2023 Earthshot Prize

November 9, 2023

WildCRU Director Professor Amy Dickman participated in the 2023 EarthShot Prize as a member of the Expert Advisory Panel and also attended Earthshot Plus where key issues in conservation were presented and discussed.

Inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s 1962 “Moonshot” challenge to land a man on the moon within a decade, the Earthshot Prize was launched by Prince William in 2020 to search for and scale the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges. The initiative aims to “spark the world’s collective imagination and drive the mindset of urgent optimism and action” through “spotlighting environmental innovators and their solutions”.

The awards cover five goals for 2030 that were developed in collaboration with leading environmental experts – to Protect and Restore Nature, Clean our Air, Revive our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix our Climate. One winner from each goal will be chosen every year this decade and awarded £1 million each to scale their solutions. The 15 finalists each year also receive tailored support from the Earthshot Prize’s global alliance of partners.
