Master's Student (MSc)

Maren Lechner

PROFILE

I am a MSc Biodiversity, Conservation and Management student and Research Assistant, originally from San Diego, USA. I am broadly interested in how animal behaviour, movement ecology, landscape change, and conservation intersect. My master’s dissertation focuses on human-elephant conflict in North Luangwa, Zambia and how to improve conflict mitigation strategies while preserving landscape connectivity. I am supervised by Dr. Egil Dröge.

I received my B.S. In Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2021 with a minor in Food Studies. Since then, I have worked on a variety of research projects, including behavioural research on white-faced capuchins in Costa Rica and population monitoring of native species in Glacier National Park, Montana.
