PROFILE
David Beach is a DPhil researcher focussing on the political economy of wildlife conservation in East Africa, with particular emphasis on the Amboseli–Maasailand ecosystem spanning Kenya and Tanzania.
His work examines how conservation policy, protected-area governance, and wildlife-based tourism models influence the long-term viability of landscape-scale habitat conservation. He is particularly interested in the economic viability and ecological sustainability of different conservation approaches, including photographic tourism and regulated hunting, and how the distribution of conservation costs and benefits shapes community attitudes and incentives for wildlife conservation.
David’s professional background includes corporate strategy roles at NBCUniversal and The Walt Disney Company, following earlier experience in investment banking and private equity. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an undergraduate degree from New York University.
