Habitat loss and fragmentation jeopardises many wildlife populations, making identification and prioritisation of the most important areas for conservation a pressing need.

A WildCRU team, working in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Arizona supported by NASA, delivered training on WildCRU’s Connecting Landscapes Decision Support System in Botswana. Participants included representatives from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Angola. The multi-species connectivity models used in the workshop result from WildCRU’s long-term field work in the KAZA region led by Andy Loveridge. After introductory sessions the team provided practical, hands-on demonstrations using real models for the Chobe-Zambezi area.
