Everything started with my fascination for wild cats, from which I learned to appreciate nature, and wildlife.
In the past four years, I have been carrying out field studies of wild carnivores and doing biodiversity surveys across western China, mainly through the use of techniques such as camera trapping, satellite monitoring and genetic analysis of scat samples.
While at Oxford I hope to learn more on the ecology of carnivores, especially their interactions with people and human landscapes. I intend to apply this knowledge to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts in areas of western China.
The Diploma offers lots of practical skills that I would like to master and practice. I am especially interested in analysing spatial data and developing computer-based models. These skills will help me with my plans to carry out related research in the future.
