Growing up in Aceh, Indonesia, I was immersed in wildlife and nature from an early age, leading me to study Biology at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). There, I interned on captive Sumatran elephant behaviour and researched bird diversity for my thesis, hoping to one day work in the Leuser Ecosystem, Indonesia, home to the Sumatran rhino, elephant, tiger, and orangutan. Those plans didn’t work out, but in 2021 I ended up there anyway, joining Forum Konservasi Leuser (FKL), where I’ve now worked for five years as a Wildlife Data Analyst.

I manage data from ranger patrol teams and camera traps, analyse GPS collar data from Sumatran elephants, and support our human-wildlife conflict mitigation team, turning this into better patrol strategies and conservation decisions.

I also keep developing my passion for birds as a field guide at one of our research stations, and wrote a children’s storybook on environmental conservation set in Leuser to raise early awareness among local children.

I’m excited to join the 2026 WildCRU Postgraduate Diploma to build on these skills in large mammal conservation, human-wildlife coexistence, and conservation technology, and bring these ideas home to Leuser, learning not only from WildCRU’s experts, but also my fellow classmates.
