PROFILE

I have always had a passion for the environment.  Growing up in the Southwest of Western Australia I was surrounded by a diverse range of flora and fauna.  This area is unfortunately heavily impacted as much of Western Australia is by mining, causing many wildlife and plant communities to be negatively impacted.  Growing up I have learnt the important role this industry plays in Western Australia and now understand even more the importance of educating others about having plans in place to protect and restore the flora and fauna present.  My love for the environment and its future has led me to pursue a life working in this area and the strong desire to continue to develop my skills and growth in the conservation world.

My previous experiences include, assisting in 2 seasons of a Marine Turtle monitoring program on the Class A Reserve Barrow Island with a focus on the Flatback Turtles.

Bring a part of the environmental research team in the Jarrah Forest, conducting conservation rehabilitation work including botanical monitoring activities.  I am currently working as an Ecologist in Western Australia.  This role has been amazing in giving me the opportunity to complete a vast range of different fauna and flora surveys across Western Australia, including completing Black Cockatoo Habitat Assessments.

I hope participation in this course will assist in furthering my knowledge and ability to educate others on the amazing world of conservation.  I hope to gain the skills needed to better complete and implement wildlife conservation back home including the expansion of my current role into this area.
