It has been an amazing journey that I will never regret. My journey in conservation began from the Copperbelt University located in Southern Africa, Zambia where I attained a bachelor’s degree study in Wildlife Management. My degree research project focused on estimating the abundance of the ‘Schalow’s Turaco’ in Chembe Bird Sanctuary and the surrounding farmlands.
Two months after my graduation, I began my practical conservation works as an intern with Panthera Wildcat Conservation Zambia which is one of the leading NGOs in conserving the large and small cats Including other carnivore species across different countries. After a couple of months, I was offered a dream job as the Kafue National Park Lion Monitoring Coordinator, this job offered me an opportunity to learn, showcase my skills in conservation and expose myself to a number of skills such as working as a team, ready to always learn and meeting my best team ever ‘The Panthera Team’. It has so far been a wonderful journey of working with Panthera and I am happy to say that I have learnt a lot regarding conservation and I wish for my conservation skills to keep going higher and higher. Having sat with lions for a number of times, I got to learn and understand their behaviour, including the demography and dynamics of lions in Kafue National Park and I can proudly say the lion is my favourite carnivore. My journey in conservation has led me to a much more advantageous stage in upgrading my conservation skills, getting a placement for a post graduate diploma study in International Wildlife Conservation Practice under WildCru at the University of Oxford in the UK is a game changer. I am 100 percent positive that this study will enhance my conservation skills especially those which are lacking in my country. As usual, I am ready to learn, and I am ready to bring back and showcase the skills I will obtain during my studies in order to conserve the wildlife of Zambia and the entire country at large.
In a nutshell, I am a nature lover who is passionate about wildlife conservation and management. My best interest is the conservation and management of large carnivore species and the environment they live in.
