Strengthening a longstanding partnership for conservation
June 26, 2026WildCRU is delighted to be part of an exciting new chapter in interdisciplinary research at Pembroke College, Oxford, made possible through the longstanding generosity of Dr Thomas Kaplan.
The establishment of the new Recanati-Kaplan Minerva Institute reflects a shared commitment to addressing some of the world’s most complex and urgent challenges in environmental conservation and security. For WildCRU, the initiative represents an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration across disciplines while advancing research that delivers meaningful conservation outcomes.
We are especially grateful for Dr Kaplan’s continued support of WildCRU and its mission. Over many years, his commitment to wildlife conservation has helped sustain pioneering research, support future conservation leaders, and drive efforts to protect biodiversity around the world. This latest investment continues that legacy and demonstrates the value of bringing together expertise from across different fields to tackle global challenges.
As the new Institute takes shape, WildCRU looks forward to contributing its conservation science expertise and working alongside colleagues from across Oxford and beyond. We are thankful for Dr Kaplan’s enduring partnership and vision, which continue to create opportunities for impactful research and positive change.
