For his DPhil and in partnership with the Department of Forests and Park Services, Ugyen Penjor is developing a comprehensive conservation toolkit for species conservation in Bhutan. He is modelling habitat suitability for 16 terrestrial megafauna species and identifying conservation priority areas (which are mostly outside the current protected area network). Ultimately, Ugyen will develop landscape resistance and connectivity layers for these species and identify critical connectivity corridors for future protection. His work will directly impact policy and management decision in Bhutan.
